Open Door Director & Preschool Coordinator

Ms. Jen has worked at The Open Door Childcare Centre for over 20 years, starting in after-school care and moving through the different programs of the centre. She currently teaches preschool and has now been serving as Director since 2011. Ms. Jen, her husband Keith, and their two boys, Isaak and Levi, live in Abbotsford. She enjoys reading, playing board games, watching movies, going for walks, and spending time with her family & good friends.

When Ms. Brenda started working here in 2010, she officially became a Responsible Adult…haha! She has always enjoyed being part of the growth of children. She was a Scout leader for 4 years, planning and running events. She has the best of two worlds doing accounting and working with children and their families.

Senior Pastor

Pastor Matt started in full time ministry at Abbotsford Church of the Nazarene in July of 2011 as a youth and family pastor. Prior to his start in ministry Matt lived with his family in Calgary, AB where he completed a Behavioural Science Degree at Ambrose University. Starting in September 2018 Matt began his current ministry as Lead Pastor at AbbyNaz. Matt, his Wife, and their two children live in Abbotsford. He enjoys singing camp songs, playing slap-shot, watching the Vancouver Canucks and publicly harassing his Uncle about his opposing choice in CFL team.

Over the last 15 years, Ms. Monica has enjoyed working with children of all ages, capacities, and abilities.  She graduated from Ambrose University with a BA in Behavioural Science with a Concentration in Youth and Family Studies. Her passion is to continue to build a strong connection between the family ministry components of our church with those in our community.  She loves being Mom to 2 beautiful children and wife to Pastor Matt.

Ms. Hia was born in Malaysia and came to Canada in 1991. She has been working in the field of early childhood education since 1995. Ms. Hia enjoys travelling and eating spicy food. Her favourite bible verse is Romans 8:28 ("And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose").

Ms. Chrystal has been working with children and youth for a number of years. Her hobbies include writing, drawing, and hiking.

Ms. Michelle has been working with children for nearly 10 years. She went back to school to get her Early Childhood Education certificate two years ago and has been working at Open Door ever since. Ms. Michelle is an outdoorsy person, who is very adventurous, and loves to try new things. Her passions in life include God, children, family, and animals.

Ms. Erin has been working at The Open Door since September 2020. Although she grew up in Canada, it is not the only country she has called home. She enjoys lamingtons, meat pies, and a good cuppa while watching kangaroos in her backyard. Can you guess where she lived? Ms. Erin is currently attending the University of the Fraser Valley in the Bachelor of Integrated Studies program with a focus on child education and hopes to become a teacher one day. She also enjoys art, sports, and her giant 14-year-old chocolate lab.

Ms. Erum has been working at the Open Door for 2 years now. She loves her job, but especially loves all the kids she gets to work with since her kids, which she loves, are grown-ups now. Ms. Erum is also grateful for her amazing colleagues who she gets to work with everyday. She is excited for the opportunity to work at the Open Door for another year and hopefully many years to come.

Ms. Audrey was born and raised in Abbotsford and is a recent graduate of Abby Christian School. She loves photography and listening to music. She has been working with children as a babysitter for many years and has enjoyed every moment of it. Ms. Audrey believes that being one of four children has helped her greatly in her work. She was originally hired by the church as a summer student to assist with VBS, summer camps, chapel, and our KICK's program and she liked working here so much that she was thrilled to accept a job at The Open Door. In the future, Ms. Audrey hopes to obtain her Early Childhood Education certificate so she continue to work with children.

Ms. Seleah is new here at Open Door. She has lived in Abbotsford her whole life and even attended Open Door. She is in university studying philosophy and psychology. She enjoys learning about everyone’s personalities and seeing how everybody is different.
